Just Do the Next Thing

I was helping one of my patients in a therapy session today who is struggling with reconciling opposites - her old unhealthy identity vs her new healthy identity. She asked what the easiest way to reconcile this would be.

This is what I told her:
Acknowledge and honor both sides of yourself but don't do anything about it.
Instead, just do the next thing.
Fully experience what you are doing and then do the next thing.  Fully experience what you are doing and then do the next thing. Fully experience what you are doing and then do the next thing...

This is true for my life and probably everybody's life!

All we can really do is "just do the next thing".
It's that simple.

This suggestion immediately diffuses the relentless thinking mind. That very mind is what causes our dissatisfaction, frustration and endless unfulfilled desires.

Let's all do the next thing and have a peaceful sleep.
